A Year of Remarkable Initiatives and Enhanced Performance

The year 2022 marked a significant milestone in the history of TSRTC with the implementation of several innovative and groundbreaking measures. These measures have not only resulted in improved performance but have also enhanced passenger satisfaction and boosted morale and motivation among employees. Mr. Bajireddy Govardhan, speaking at the annual round-up meeting on Tuesday, expressed his satisfaction with the outcomes.

Initiatives Driving Improvement

Medaram Jathara: Ensuring Smooth Transportation

During the Medaram Jathara in February 2022, the corporation successfully operated 2,793 special buses, facilitating the transportation of 11 lakh pilgrims from 52 important points within the State.

‘Prajala Vaddaku RTC’: Strengthening the People Connect

In September, TSRTC embarked on a massive people connect program called ‘Prajala Vaddaku RTC,’ covering all depots. This initiative encompassed 947 meetings across 897 routes, resulting in increased engagement and interaction. As a testament to its success, bus pass holders increased from 7.57 lakh in 2021 to 9.66 lakh in 2022.

Affordable Metro Student Combi Tickets

To make public transportation more accessible for students, the tariff for Metro student combi tickets was reduced from ₹20 to ₹10 in November. This move significantly increased the sales of combination tickets by 10,000 per day.

Expansion of Bus on Contract (BoC) and Sabarimala Yatra Services

The Bus on Contract (BoC) services expanded from 21,153 in 2021 to 35,209 in 2022, catering to the growing demand. Furthermore, the bookings for Sabarimala Yatra buses saw a substantial increase from 60 in 2021 to 144 in 2022.

Enhanced Services at Tirumala

TSRTC introduced 1000 special entry tickets at Tirumala from July, along with 30 Tirupathi services. This initiative led to the sale of 80,798 tickets, providing improved convenience and accessibility to the devotees.

Innovations in the Mechanical Engineering Department

The corporation adopted water-based, biodegradable degreasing chemicals for cleaning bus parts, replacing diesel. This eco-friendly alternative resulted in an annual saving of ₹50 lakh. Moreover, TSRTC is procuring 630 super luxury and 130 deluxe buses to replace the older ones, ensuring improved travel experiences for passengers.

Employee Welfare and Facilities

In line with its commitment to employee welfare, TSRTC provided compassionate appointments to 16 dependents of employees who passed away during service. Additionally, three individuals were appointed as drivers. Furthermore, the establishment of a fully equipped 200-bed hospital at Tarnaka, complete with a 10-bed ICU and dialysis unit, aimed to enhance healthcare facilities for employees. The corporation also addressed the long-pending issue of pending Dearness Allowance (DA) payments from 2019 onwards.

Elevating Passenger Amenities

To enhance passenger comfort and satisfaction, TSRTC undertook extensive renovations and upgrades to its bus stations. Eighty-three bus stations underwent renovation at a cost of ₹2.95 crore. The procurement of 1319 three-seater chairs at bus stations, at a sanctioned amount of ₹131.9 lakh, and the installation of 674 ceiling fans, sanctioned at ₹31.52 lakh, aimed to provide a better travel experience for passengers. Additionally, modern bus stations were constructed in Siddipet, and new bus depots in Narsapur and Kosgi were inaugurated and commissioned in June 2022.

Paving the Way for a Sustainable Future

As part of its commitment to sustainable transportation, TSRTC has proposed the induction of 3,360 electric buses in a phased manner by the end of 2025, as a replacement for diesel buses. Furthermore, a proposal to convert 25 diesel buses to electric vehicles at a cost of ₹16 crore is under consideration. Additionally, TSRTC is set to roll out a commercial app that enables digital payments for bus station stalls, fuel stations, and advertisement revenue, providing greater convenience to passengers.

With these remarkable achievements and ongoing initiatives, TSRTC continues to prioritize passenger satisfaction, employee welfare, and sustainable transportation, solidifying its position as a leader in the transportation sector.
